Winter is powder skiing at 9,000+ feet, ice-skating, horse-drawn sleigh hayrides and quiet evenings by the piñon-burning fire. In addition to the exciting water sports, seasonal activities include horseback riding in the Carson National Forest; fly fishing with renowned fisherman Taylor Streit of Streit FlyFishing, or Mat Wagner of Los Rios Anglers, or Jack Woolley of Tailwater Gallery and Flyshop; hot air ballooning in the Gorge where the world’s highest suspended bridge spans the Rio Grande; cycling, llama trekking and hiking up to Wheeler Peak, the highest mountain in New Mexico at 13,000 +ft.
