Shopping/Sightseeing

Though Taos is known for it’s small town ease, the shopping is plentiful – silver jewelry, turquoise, leather, fur, and art with over 85 galleries in this little town. Our central Plaza dates back to the late 1800’s, as do many of the historic adobe buildings which are now open to the public as shops or historic sites including The Harwood Museum of Art, Blumenschein Home and Museum, Fechin Institute, La Hacienda de Don Antonio Severino Martinez, Kit Carson Home and Museum and a the stylish home and museum honoring the wonderfully philanthropic New York socialite, Millicent Rogers.

The Taos Pueblo, home of the Tewa Indians is the oldest continuously inhabited pueblo in the United States. Here the Native Americans still tend a 200 head herd of buffalo at the base of their Sacred Taos Mountain.
